914 - Merchandise Planning/Analysis (BC) - Merchandise Planner


As a Merchandise Planner you will work as an integral part of the team by identifying risks and opportunities and making recommendations to ensure that we are maximizing the profitability of the business strategy and product assortments by store


Essential Functions:

  • Develop and present seasonal / weekly merchandise financial plans in accordance with company goals, historical performance and market trend analysis.
  • Forecast merchandise plans at a department / class level in our planning system based on changes in strategies, receipts and/ or business climate.
  • Ensure delivery of the financial objectives of the area through accurate and proactive management and forecasting of sales, margin, mark-up and markdowns.
  • Develop and deliver merchandise analysis to inform and guide executive decision making.
  • Identify the impact future promotional and ad plans to margin, and work with Product Manager to minimize risk and meet targeted goals.
  • Develop and provide appropriate business analysis to influence and lead assortment planning process.
  • Work closely with merchandising team to identify sales opportunities through effective strategic plans.
  • Work with Product Manager to proactively address inventory liabilities.
  • Participate in a cross-functional team.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Complete other duties as assigned.


Education/Years of Service:

  • BA/BS in Merchandising, Marketing, Finance or related field.
  • 5+ years of Merchandise Planning experience in a SKU intensive environment.


  • Experience using retail software along with excellent Excel and PC skills.
  • Proven analytical and merchandise planning skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Prior budgeting experience within a retail merchandise-planning environment.
