Summary

The Ecommerce Category Manager develops and drives the online merchandising strategy for specific category/categories that align with the overall Gander Outdoors store strategy.  They are responsible for the category sales, margin and ensuring profitable growth of their categories.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Create a best in class site experience that maximizes sales, conversion, AOV, UPO and customer satisfaction.
  • Meet or exceed sales and margin plans each month.
  • Partner with product managers to optimize online and in store sales by establishing consistent assortment strategies for the Omni-channel customer. Finish
  • Develop daily, weekly and monthly selling strategies.
  • Translate in-store merchandising strategies into optimal website experiences that include the site sections, product detail pages, home page, emails and promotions.
  • Adjust online merchandising strategy based on customer feedback, competitor actions, in-stock levels and markdowns.
  • Work closely with online marketing team to provide merchandising vision to emails, SEM, SEO and banner ads.
  • Partner with online team to develop merchandising/promotions calendar for home page, site sections, emails and special initiatives.
  • Works with the art department on product copy, specs and image strategy. 
  • Provides forecast of new items setups.
  • Collaborate with inventory and planning teams to gain insight on financial results to develop assortment, merchandising and promotional strategies.
  • Manages and develops the Web merchandisers.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:  

  • BA/BS in Merchandising, Business or Finance and 5 years of experience in merchandising with 2+ years in product management preferably in the outdoor sporting area.
  • Proven ability to analyze and improve processes, measure results, and achieve financial goals.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills along with proven negation skills.
  • Demonstrated organizing and prioritizing skills, attention to detail, and initiative in completing tasks.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, clearly and concisely and interact effectively at all levels and across the organization.
  • Experience in assessing customers, markets, and industry trends.
  • Proven team leader with experience in areas of mentoring, coaching, and employee development
